(July 16, 2009) Winnipeg – Manitobans will be able to enjoy Canada’s most treasured natural and historic places at a reasonable cost thanks to the price freeze on all Parks Canada entry fees says Member of Parliament for Charleswood-St. James-Assiniboia, Steven Fletcher.

“The Parks Canada fee freeze will allow Manitobans to visit Riding Mountain National Park or Wapusk National Park for a minimal cost,” said Fletcher.  “I encourage everyone take advantage of this fee freeze to visit these beautiful sites, right in our own backyard.”

The National Park price freeze will allow the general public to enjoy 2008 prices until April 1, 2011. The 2009 prices for commercial groups will remain frozen until April 1, 2012.

Canada’s Economic Action plan is providing Parks Canada with $280 million to revitalize National Parks including $75 million for improvements to visitor facilities over the next two years and an additional $75 million for the protection of national historic sites.
“Our government’s investment in National Parks and Historic Sites will ensure that Manitobans can continue to enjoy these national gems for many future generations,” said Fletcher.
