CANADA’S GOVERNMENT IS IMPROVING MANITOBA THROUGH THE RECREATIONAL INFRASTRUCTURE CANADA PROGRAM
May 12, 2009
(May 12, 2009) Ottawa – Canada’s Government is improving our community swimming pools, skating rinks and community centres through investment in the Recreational Infrastructure Canada Program (RInC) says the Honourable Steven Fletcher, Member of Parliament for Charleswood-St. James-Assiniboia. “RInC will provide up to one-third of total eligible costs for upgrades and repairs to community recreational facilities such as swimming pools and hockey rinks,” said Fletcher. “These projects will help put Manitobans to work, and encourage greater participation in community programs.” Applications are now being accepted for the RInC program for upgrades and repairs to local sport fields, community centres and other recreational facilities. Project proposals are due by May 29, 2009. Projects requiring more time to develop their proposals will have until June 19, 2009. “Under the RInC program, our Government will provide up to one-third of total eligible costs for projects that will be completed by March 31, 2011, with contributions up to $1 million,” said Fletcher. The Recreational Infrastructure Canada Program is part of the Canada’s Economic Action Plan, which is providing stimulus to ensure a quick recovery from the current economic downturn.
