April 02, 2009
(April 2, 2009) Ottawa – Students, staff and athletes at the University of Manitoba will soon be taking advantage of new and upgraded sport facilities thanks to Canada’s government, says the Honourable Steven Fletcher, Member of Parliament for Charleswood-St. James-Assiniboia.

“This sports complex is a valuable facility for Manitobans,” said Fletcher. “Today’s funding announcement is another example of our government’s continued investment Winnipeg.”

Along with the Province of Manitoba, Canada’s government announced $35 million in funding to refurbish the public outdoor stadium at the University of Manitoba’s Fort Garry Campus, relocate soccer and tennis fields, build a new fitness centre and an inflatable ‘bubble’ for year-round use of the stadium.

Canada’s Economic Action Plan is providing $33 billion in funding for roads, bridges and other important infrastructure projects to improve Canada’s communities.
