Fletcher wishes Canadians a Happy Canada Day
June 30, 2010

(Winnipeg)-  The Honourable Steven Fletcher, Member of Parliament for Charleswood-St. James-Assiniboia released the following Canada Day statement today:

“Today, Canadians across the country are celebrating the 143rd anniversary of Confederation.

“It is a day to reflect on the blessings we have in Canada and a celebration of the accomplishments this great nation has made over the years.  As Canadians, our country provides us with democratic rights and freedoms that our brave men and women in uniform fought two World Wars to defend and that so many other nations envy.

“This year’s celebration is made more special by the visit to Canada and Manitoba of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.  She is a living bond to our shared history as Canadians.

“I encourage all Manitobans to participate in the many events happening around the province.

“I wish Manitobans and all Canadians across the country a safe and happy Canada Day.”
