Fletcher welcomes canada post’s new winnipeg mail processing plant

(Winnipeg) -  Winnipeg is leading the way with the addition of Canada Post’s new state-of-the-art Winnipeg Mail Processing Plant says the Honourable Steven Fletcher, Member of Parliament for Charleswood-St. James-Assiniboia at the grand opening today.

“Congratulations to Canada Post on the completion of this great new facility in Charleswood – St. James – Assiniboia,” said Fletcher. “This facility is the first step in Canada Post’s postal transformation plan and I am pleased my riding was chosen to be a part of such a significant change.”

 “Canada Post will enrich and ensure businesses prosper, not only in Manitoba, but across the country,” added Fletcher. “I am proud to be here to officially welcome Canada Post to the community.” 

Built at a cost of more than $100 million, the facility is the company’s first new mail processing plant in more than 20 years and is a part of an overall investment of $160 million in the city. The new plant is situated on 27 acres of land near the James Armstrong Richardson Airport, replacing the 52-year-old plant in downtown Winnipeg.
