OTTAWA, Ontario – The Honourable Steven Fletcher, Member of Parliament for Charleswood-St. James-Assiniboia, released the following statement regarding the passing of City Councillor Bill Clement, Charleswood – Tuxedo Ward.
“I was saddened to learn late yesterday of the passing of City Councillor Bill Clement.
“As one of the most experienced and hands-on civic leaders ever to take their place at City Hall, Bill’s passing is a profound loss for the City of Winnipeg, Manitoba and Canada.
“I enjoyed working with Bill over the years as we served our constituents in Charleswood. Most recently we worked together to support extensive renovations at the Charleswood Senior Centre. In this project and numerous others, Bill’s public service was characterized by honest hard work, confidence earned through decades of experience, and the tenacity to get the job done for his community.
“I would also like to extend my sincere condolences to Bill’s family. Nothing in life prepares us for such a sudden loss of a loved one. Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers.”
