March 03, 2010
(Ottawa) –The Government of Canada’s Speech from the Throne lays out an agenda that will make our country and its economy stronger says the Honourable Steven Fletcher, Member of Parliament for Charleswood-St. James-Assiniboia.

“Today’s Throne Speech emphasizes our Government’s ongoing commitment to jobs and economic growth,” said Fletcher. “We will continue to help communities, protect incomes and create jobs by completing Canada’s Economic Action Plan.”

The Throne Speech presents a blueprint to ensure Canada’s long-term economic growth by moving forward with initiatives to build the jobs and industries of the future. In addition, the Government will focus on making Canada the best place for families; standing up for those who helped build Canada; and strengthening a united Canada in a changing world.

“This plan will continue to support families and seniors while returning to balanced budgets,” said Fletcher. “It also reinforces our Government’s commitment to its soldiers and veterans.”

The Third Session of the 40th Parliament opened today with the reading of the Speech from the Throne by Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada.
