Fletcher hosts Canada summer jobs employer information session
February 08, 2010
(Winnipeg) – The Honourable Steven Fletcher, Member of Parliament for Charleswood-St. James-Assiniboia today hosted an Information Session with Service Canada staff and local employers to discuss the application process and the benefits in participating in the Canada Summer Jobs 2010. “Our government is helping employers hire additional support this summer,” said Fletcher. “Today’s session is giving employers in Charleswood-St. James-Assiniboia the information they need to create more student jobs.” The Canada Summer Jobs Information Session was attended by more than 25 local not-for-profit and small business employers and featured a presentation by local Service Canada staff. Canada Summer Jobs 2010 helps non-for-profit organizations, public sector employers and small businesses with fewer than 50 employees create summer jobs for students. Last year, more than 130 summer positions were created in Charleswood-St. James-Assiniboia. “Through this initiative, our government is giving students in Manitoba and across the country a chance to gain experience and develop skills,” said Fletcher. To obtain a copy of the presentation or more for information about Canada Summer Jobs 2010, local employers are encouraged to contact the Constituency Office at 204-984-6432 or by email at Fletcher.s@parl.gc.ca.
